Amazon News 2 12/2025
Hello, we make it easy for you:
All relevant Amazon news and developments at a glance – clear and concise.
Amazon discontinues commingled inventory
Amazon has announced that it will discontinue the commingled inventory service and adjust the requirements for manufacturer barcodes. The changes will apply to inventory shipped from March 31, 2026 onwards.
Amazon justifies this step by stating that through sellers' decentralized warehousing, fast delivery times can now be ensured even without mixing inventory from different providers.
What will change specifically
For brand owners (Brand Registry):
If you are registered as a brand representative, you no longer need to apply Amazon barcode labels (FNSKU). You can continue to use manufacturer barcodes (UPC/EAN). This increases flexibility, as products do not need to be pre-labeled exclusively for Amazon.
For resellers:
Resellers who are not brand representatives will be required to use Amazon barcode labels (FNSKU) in the future, even if a manufacturer barcode is present. Those who already use this process don't need to change anything.
Products without manufacturer barcode:
Here, the rule remains unchanged for everyone (brand owners & resellers): The use of Amazon barcode labels is mandatory.
Our conclusion
For brand owners, handling is potentially simplified, while resellers must ensure that their products are correctly labeled with FNSKUs to avoid storage problems from Q2 2026 onwards.
From December 15, the new rates are available both in the revenue calculator and in the new Profit Analytics
Settings for custom holidays
One of the biggest challenges in shipping as a seller on Amazon has always been the lack of settings for regional holidays. Amazon has finally addressed this.
As Dominik Steger reported on LinkedIn, there are finally features in the shipping settings to add custom holidays.
Under Shipping Settings -> General Shipping Settings -> Holidays, you can now add a custom holiday via a button on the right.

Amazon launches its own Amazon Business delivery fleet
Amazon Business is building its own branded delivery fleet specifically for B2B customers for the first time and is currently testing it in selected US markets. The vehicles are explicitly designed for commercial requirements, from palletized industrial equipment to time-critical deliveries for offices, warehouses, and institutional facilities.
Purpose of the new fleet
The new fleet is intended to strengthen Amazon Business's role in the B2B logistics segment and signal reliability and professionalism to business customers. Vice President Shelley Salomon emphasizes that the appearance of such a truck at a loading dock, university, or government facility should also underscore trust and brand promise to these customers.
Operational benefits for recipients
For customers with loading docks and equipment, Amazon offers palletized deliveries, which is particularly relevant for high volumes and recurring orders. The clear vehicle marking should help receiving teams quickly identify authorized deliveries and better plan unloading times, increasing efficiency in high-throughput receiving areas.
The AI book tsunami on Amazon
In our new blog post on the topic of "AI books on Amazon," Stephan has addressed the issue that Amazon has had a massive problem with generic books created by AI that are flooding the platform through Amazon's self-publishing.

XRechnung comes to Amazon
Since December 15, 2025, Amazon's sales tax calculation service has been providing invoices in XRechnung format for domestic orders.
From January 1, 2027, this will be mandatory and Amazon is already doing this in advance.
Customers who shop on the platform via Amazon Business must have activated the option in their account settings to receive invoices in this special format.
For sellers, there are no changes, as Amazon is making these adjustments solely on their side.
Virtual bundles now usable in Europe
Marketplace sellers on Amazon can now create virtual bundles for products of their brand. Amazon itself says that these must then be offered at a reduced price.
Under the Brands menu item, 2 to 5 products can be entered as a virtual bundle.
Amazon massively expands same-day deliveries in the USA
Amazon is expanding same-day delivery for fresh groceries in the USA to over 2,300 cities and communities and planning further expansions for 2026. In regions with this service, nine of the ten most ordered items now come from the fresh product range, such as fruits, vegetables, dairy products, meat, and frozen goods.
Scope and benefits
Customers can combine fresh groceries such as fruits, vegetables, dairy products, meat, baked goods, and frozen products together with non-food items (electronics, books, household items) in a same-day order. In many new regions – including Boise, Salt Lake City, Omaha, and other cities across the country – the service has been available since summer or fall and is significantly changing shopping behavior.
Prime and non-Prime conditions
Prime members receive same-day delivery for fresh groceries in most regions free of charge for orders over $25, which also includes the fresh product range. If the cart is below that, Prime members pay $2.99; non-Prime customers pay $12.99, regardless of order value.
Quality assurance and strategic role
Through a "Freshness Guarantee," Amazon ensures that perishable goods arrive in expected quality; otherwise, "Amazon makes it right" (e.g., through replacement or credit). Overall, Amazon generated over $100 billion in gross sales with groceries and household goods in the USA in 2024 and positions itself with the same-day network, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and local partners as one of the largest grocery retailers in the country.
